Kindred the Family Soul & support from Rell
8-9th Dec 2012 Jazz cafe
There’s a reason why the Marvin Gaye & Tammi Terrell performance clip on YouTube has racked over 17 million hits. It’s because Marvin was rumoured to be in love – unrequited love, with his duet partner at the time – and it shows. Marv couldn’t fake it.
Kindred The Family Soul duo Fatin & Ajá are also in love and have been ever since they met in their hometown of Philadelphia, marrying 13 years ago, having 6 kids and going on to release 3 highly acclaimed albums via Sony. So you know that’s real and explains the lyric to the sultry, string laced, forthcoming single Magic Happen:
“I ain’t even gotta tell you – you should already know but just in case you needed to hear it, here it go … I love you more, than you could ever imagine …you make Magic Happen.”
Kindred’s latest album, titled Love Has No Recession is a personal testimony about what it takes to keep a family and relationship together in challenging economic times. Uttered in the same breath as the duo’s epochal debut Surrender To Love, local Philly talent and Grammy winning collaborators alike have lined up around the block to collaborate on Love Has No Recession. The socio soul epics We All Will Know & Take A Look Around (Soultracks.com’s highest ever download) feature Raheem DeVaughn & Bilal, respectively. Superstar Snoop Dogg appears on the newly championed summer anthem You Got Love (itself an online video hit, racking up over 120,000 hits in the first fortnight) and Go-Go king Chuck Brown gate crashing the aptly named Going To A Go-Go. But of course, being a Kindred album, Love Has No Recession also features sweet & vintage R&B with the Motown style stomper Authentically You, the gorgeous Sticking With You & aforementioned single soon-to-be Kindred classic Magic Happen
